Join us for a morning creating extraordinary fiber poms with artist Maija Fiebig.

Using a variety of yarns and fibers in a multitude of colors, guests will create a fiber pom sculpture of their own. With most textile art you see the fiber vertically. With poms, the bisected threads allow for a dense and dimensional piece — think of it as a Moroccan rug in ball form. Each pom, an exercise in meditative labor. The human world demands fast, and poms are an indulgence of slow.

All materials provided, no experience necessary.

Maija Fiebig is known for her highly detailed, atmospheric paintings of abstracted plant forms and patterns. She has recently expanded into new dimensions with sculptural textiles. Working with thread, roving, and yarn, Maija creates unexpected spherical forms—poms—that feel like small planets unto themselves.
