In this introduction to wild edible foraging, writer and wild food enthusiast Langdon Cook will lead a three-mile hike through the forest of the Cascade foothills, discovering nature's bounty along the way.  We'll see dozens of plants and fungi, learn about their identification and natural histories, and discuss culinary uses.  This in-depth exploration is perfect for the nature lover and adventurous eater.

Langdon Cook is a writer, instructor, and lecturer on wild foods and the great outdoors.  HIs books include Upstream: Searching for Wild Salmon, from River to TableThe Mushroom Hunters:  On the Trail of an Underground America, winner of the 2014 Pacific Northwest Book Award, and Fat of the Land: Adventures of a 21st Century Forager.   Cook has been profiled in Bon AppetitWSJ magazineNational Geographic Traveler, and Salon.com, and his writing appears in numerous magazines, newspapers, and on-line journals.

place: Tiger Mountain, approximately 30 minutes outside Seattle, exact location given upon registration.  Discover Pass required.

This will be an easy, approximately 3 mile hike on varied terrain. Please dress appropriately for weather conditions, field trip will happen rain or shine.

Payments for field trips and classes are non-refundable, though they may be transferred to another person (your new best friend!).  All sales are final.  If trip is cancelled due to instructor illness or lack of enrollment, full refunds will be issued.
