Even in the best of times, self-care is paramount to good health, both physically and mentally.  After a long, grey winter, spring is the perfect time to reconnect with the medicine that is all around us.  This informative workshop is designed to introduce beginners and experienced herbalists alike to some some favorite natural strategies for strengthening your resistance for the challenges and opportunities that spring brings.

We will discuss simple remedies found in your own home and local markets and sample herbal infusions perfect for the shift in season. Bring your questions and concerns as this class will be be part lecture, part demonstration, and part improvisation based on your curiosities. Field trippers will go home with a spring tonic tea, recipes for home medicine making, along with newfound knowledge and tools to maintain wellness this spring and beyond.

Karyn Schwartz is an herbalist and owner of the beloved Sugarpill apothecary in Capitol Hill.  She has come a long way since her initial attempts at making ink from fermented chokeberries over 30 years ago.  Her enthusiasm for "all things herbal" is infectious and her knowledge invaluable, not to mention a voice that sounds like honey.
