RENEWable design and fashion november 7th

35.00

Given climate change and the human impact on Earth and its resources, it is more important than ever to consider the changes we can make to lead a more sustainable lifestyle. Eileen Fisher is at the fashion forefront of the “circular design” movement — one in which manufacturers are closing the loop by taking back, refurbishing and recycling apparel.

On this fascinating field trip, we’ll tour Eileen Fisher RENEW’s SODO facility where previously-owned garments are refurbished and up-cycled. We’ll meet the staff, learn about their program and see samples of redesigned garments along with a demonstration of visible mending.

After the tour, guests are invited to follow up with a visit to Eileen Fisher Renew’s storefront location (one of two in the country) in Columbia City. Field trippers will receive a 25% discount on purchases that day along with a bag of “chop” (damaged apparel pieces) for their own innovative creations and mending projects.

Next door, the Columbia City Gallery will be preparing for the 7th-annual “Eileen Fisher Renew Chop Challenge’ on November 8th- an exhibit and auction featuring artwork created from recycled apparel to benefit SEEDArts.
