summer blooms with fortunate orchard june 9th

The flowers of early summer in the Pacific Northwest are some of the best of the season, visually stunning and fragrant. In this class we’ll design flora with scent in mind, creating arrangements that are pleasing to the eye and enchanting to the nose. Garden roses, peonies, sweet peas, herbs and other delights will be laid out for field trippers to enjoy and design with.

We’ll discusses the "slow flower" movement, the mechanics of floral design and how to use color, form and texture to create a balanced arrangement. After a brief demonstration, field trippers will have free reign with floral bounty gathered from local growers. With a mix of cultivated flowers and wild foliage, we’ll create unique arrangements that reflect the beauty of early summer in the Pacific Northwest.

Hannah Morgan is the owner of Fortunate Orchard, a floral design studio and cutting garden in South Seattle. Hannah uses flowers and foliage grown in her garden and along the west coast to create arrangements that are always seasonal and a bit wild. Her clients include Seattle restaurants, arts organizations and adventurous brides and grooms.
