This class has been so popular and is so downright amazing, we're doing it again!

What is it that turns a good cocktail into one that is extraordinary?  One word, bitters.  These marvelous concoctions of herbs, citrus peels, fresh fruits, and spices have the ability to transform your favorite drink by highlighting certain flavors.

In this class, we'll discuss the history and uses of bitters, along with their health benefits (excellent in non-alcoholic beverages too!).  Students will have the opportunity to sample a variety of bitters and aromatics and discover their subtle, yet powerful influence.

Each field tripper will go home with newfound knowledge and their own DIY bitters kit.

Karyn Schwartz is an herbalist and owner of the beloved Sugarpill apothecary in Capitol Hill.  She has come a long way since her initial attempts at making ink from fermented chokeberries over 30 years ago.  Her enthusiasm for "all things herbal" is infectious and her knowledge invaluable, not to mention a voice that sounds like honey.
